The Tesoro company stopped making these detectors for a little over a year due to some problems with leakage. They re-introduced this detector recently to the delight of many Tesoro fans. Coils are now hardwired to the detector in order to prevent leakage. These metal detectors have always been known to be sensitive to small gold items and fine gold chains. Tesoro is also known for their lifetime warranty and fine customer service.

The Tesoro Tiger Shark Metal Detector is a true multi function land and underwater metal detector. In the normal mode the unit works like any other metal detector. On land the Tesoro Tiger Shark can be used for coin & relic hunting as well as gold prospecting. The Tesoro Tiger Shark works well in both fresh and salt water, making it one of the most versatile detectors available. It is waterproof to 200 feet and is equipped with four controls on the outside, to fine tune your detector to handle whatever conditions you are working in.

  • The Tesoro Tiger Shark is waterproof to 200′.
  • You can get this detector with either an 8″ or 10.5″ coil which is now hardwired to avoid leakage.
  • It uses 8 AA batteries which are included and has a drop in battery design that avoids lead breakage, and has a battery life of between 10-20 hours.
  • You can use silent search or adjustable audio threshold tone detection, what ever your preference is.
  • There are two mounting positions on the pole (for balance), and the control box is also hip mountable. This detector breaks down easily for transport or storage.

    The Garrett AT Pro is the metal detector that everyone on the forums is talking about. It was recently released onto the market and has been getting good reviews. It is truly a hybrid detector for land or water use. The thing that makes this different from other water metal detectors is the meter display. Most water detectors don’t have them.
